New Zealand MTC

I'll go where you want me to go, Dear Lord...

Saying our farewells to Elder Purcell. We love you so much and know you will be such a great missionary! Serve hard and love harder!

Seeya in 2.

From BROTHER to ELDER.

Officially ELDER Purcell.

We call it a "setting apart" where an ordinance is performed and a future missionary is blessed to carry out his calling before he (or she) embarks on their journey to serve a mission for the Lord. A future missionary is "set apart" from the world to serve as a full-time missionary and consecrate all his (or her) time and efforts to serving the Lord. Once "set apart" you must be obedient with exactness because it will keep you safe and protected by our Heavenly Father.

Elder Purcell was able to bear his testimony along with his eldest sister and Dad to share his beliefs and experiences as to why he chose to serve and how he got a desire. He also thanked his family and friends for their examples and helping his desire to grow more. It was a very spiritual meeting filled with family and friends who travelled near and far to be there and witness Brother Purcell become Elder Purcell. It was followed by food and bitter sweet goodbyes.

I love to see the temple, I'll go inside someday...

That someday was Saturday, 20th of January 2018 for Elder Purcell where he went through the temple for the first time to make covenants with our Heavenly Father. He was surrounded by his loving family and when asked how he felt about his experience he said: "I loved it aye? I want to go again!"

Called to serve.

After what seemed like forever, Elder Purcell opened his call on the 18th of November 2017 while visiting New Zealand to attend his brother's wedding amongst family. He was called to labour in the New Zealand Hamilton Mission for a period of 24 months (2 years) to preach the Gospel in the English language to the people of New Zealand reporting to the New Zealand MTC (Missionary Training Centre) on the 1st of February 2018.

He expressed: "Being anti kiwi, NZ was the last country I wanted lol but NZ Hamilton mission is where the Lord wants me and I'm humble and ecstatic to serve the Lord and preach his gospel to the people of NZ. Waited a very long time for this moment and now I'm another step closer to serving my Heavenly Father. Such is life. #NZHM #elderpurcell"
